Who it is for

For people who already save every month and want to invest that money without complications.

What you will learn

What index investing is, why fees matter, how to split a portfolio and how to think about risk.

Why this order

It starts with the simplest argument, moves to a practical plan and ends with two books that explain the why in more depth: market theory and risk.

  1. The Little Book of Common Sense Investing

John C. Bogle. Reading: Easy. Finance level: Beginner.

The case for index funds and against high fees, in a few pages.

  2. The Simple Path to Wealth

JL Collins. Reading: Easy. Finance level: Beginner.

Turns the idea into a plan: how much to save, which minimal portfolio to hold and what to do when markets fall.

  3. A Random Walk Down Wall Street

Burton G. Malkiel. Reading: Moderate. Finance level: Intermediate.

Explains why beating the market is so hard and how to split your portfolio by age.

  4. The Most Important Thing

Howard Marks. Reading: Moderate. Finance level: Advanced.

Ends with risk: what it really means and how market cycles play in.

If you already know some of it
